Andringitra National Park
Travel to Andringitra National Park – Ivohibe Peak & Wildlife Diversity
Andringitra National Park is situated 47 kilometres south of Ambalavao. The Tropic of Capricorn crosses the park.
The park was established in 1999 and is known for its rough terrain, which includes the mountain peak Ivohibe at 2,658 metres, as well as deep valleys and ridges.
It is one of the most biologically diverse and endemic places in all of Madagascar: over 100 different species of birds, over 50 species of mammals, and 55 species of frogs are known to inhabit the park.
The park has a fauna that includes birds, reptiles, lemurs, rodents, insectivores, frogs, mammals, bats and crustaceans. The flora is dominated by Canarium madagascariense (Burseraceae) and Sloanea rhodantha (Elaeocarpaceae).
Podocarpus, canopy, foams, lichens, bamboo, pandanus, and symphonia are found in this zone.
