Travel to Mananjary – Indian Ocean Port

A popular beach resort on the east coast, Mananjary lies at the mouth of the Mananjary River, 137 kilometres northwest of Fianarantsoa. A port on the Indian Ocean and the Pangalanes Canal, it handles coastal shipments of coffee, vanilla, cacao, olives, and rice.

Mananjary holds a collective circumcision ceremony every seven years known as the “sambatra”.
