Travel to Ourika Valley – Beautiful Moroccan Valley
Approximately thirty kilometres from the Imperial City of Marrakech, and spreading between the first foothills of the Atlas Mountains, the Ourika Valley is one of the most beautiful and best preserved valleys in Morocco.
With tiny villages clinging to the steep hillsides, waterfalls and rocky landscapes merging with the ubiquitous desert, this is a wild and enticing combination on the edge of the Western Atlas.
Teeming with vegetation, palmeraies and Berber hamlets, the Ourika Valley showcases the real beauty, magic and rich nature of Morocco. The region is without a doubt the perfect tourist destination for people who seek a Moroccan adventure, discovery, relaxation, and meditation.
The Ourika Valley has a wealth of sights to see and places to visit. First, there is the Ourika Valley itself with its beautiful river, berber villages, and waterfalls. In the vicinity of the valley check out the Setti Fatma village, Oukaimden ski resort, Asni valley, Lalla takerkoust lake and of course Marrakech city.
Travellers may be tempted by the new “eco-tourist” attractions that flourish in the valley. Gourmets shall brush up on their knowledge of spices at the Ourika Safranière, whereas scent-lovers will be seduced by the rich exhalations of the bio-aromatic gardens of the Ourika. Visitors may also visit the striking gardens of Timalizene, whose architecture is designed by Rémi Aubrée.
While in the Ourika Valley, first start by visiting typical Berber houses, mainly in the beautiful village of Setti Fatma – famous for its seven waterfalls; its Argan-oil cooperative is also worth seeing. Then, continue the journey along the valley where you will be astounded by the banks of the Oued where the prairies are generously shaded by poplar trees and other weeping willows.
Further along the road, there is the village of Arhbalou, very attractive with a multitude of small restaurants situated along the water’s edge. A picnic lunch at Arhbalou Cascades or at the edge of the Ourika river is something many people really enjoy.
Take time out to relax at the edge of the Ourika river – a quite magical spot.
- Witness both shade and excellent scenery and a great sense of peace.
- Discover a new landscape and another way of life.
- Relax with a wonderful view to the delightful sound of waterfalls.
