Villa des Arts Museum
Ever heard of homo erectus? He is our distant ancestor who started to stand up some 1.5 million years ago. Jawbones and skulls of this ancestor, together with animal fossils have been found in the Villa des Arts Museum.
Descendants of this homo erectus have also left tools that are estimated to go back 700,000 years (Acheulean period). These discoveries, 8 km southwest of Casablanca, prove that human presence in Morocco could date back to the early Pleistocene period, i.e. the oldest period in the middle quaternary.
