Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions

The presence of a Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions in Tétouan illustrates the artistic fibre of the region. Housed in a former bastion, the museum presents a very fine collection of Andalusian type musical instruments (castanets, harps and guitars), the heritage of Spanish Muslims who arrived in Tétouan in the late fourteenth century.

Take a stroll through the garden at the heart of the building and discover the reproductions of traditional Moroccan interiors: mountain peasant home or the home of a rich Tétouan merchant. Each room contains typical objects of the town: pottery, leatherwork, embroidered fabrics.
