Tetouan Historic Houses
The Tétouan medina has several large traditional homes. Most are located to the northeast, in the smart parts of the old town and date back to the nineteenth century. These luxurious properties are mostly in the Iberian style of Grenada, a former Muslim fortress in Spain and the birthplace of many people of Tétouan.
You may admire the façades richly decorated with wrought iron as well as fine Andalusian style ceramics. One of the most beautiful of these houses, the house of Pasha Lebbadi, is located in the oldest part of the medina. It was converted into a festival hall but has kept its traditional character. It is still open to the public for visits.
