Travel to Entabeni Safari Conservancy – The Place of the Mountain

Entabeni Safari Conservancy – “The Place of the Mountain”, is situated in the World Heritage ‘Waterberg Biosphere” of the Waterberg Region of the Limpopo Province, less than a three hour drive north of Johannesburg.

This malaria-free Reserve boasts six different Lodges set in 22,000 ha of wilderness.

Attractions in Entabeni Safari Conservancy

The Upper Escarpment offers majestic, craggy rock formations and wide-open grass plains. This is separated from the Lower Escarpment by 600m cliffs.

The Lower Escarpment is approximately three degrees warmer than the Upper Escarpment and comprises of sandveld vegetation and a series of wetlands.

Numerous activites are offered within the reserve including:

Game Drives: An open vehicle safari at Entabeni Safari Conservancy is an exhilarating experience for nature and wildlife lovers. Open 4×4 vehicles ensure close encounters with the Big Five and numerous wildlife species. A guided tour of Entabeni Safari Conservancy by a qualified and knowledgeable game ranger, with the objective of enhancing the knowledge and awareness of the visitor by interpreting animal and plant life, geology, astronomy, ecosystems, history of the area, relationships and much more.

Guided Bush Walks: Armed and experienced rangers accompany guests on the bush walk. This bush experience is educational and offers close encounters with members of the Big Five, and is therefore both rewarding and exhilarating for the more adventurous guests. The emphasis on any bush walk is to understand the bush and its various eco-systems. Medical properties of the African Bush will be explained in detail. The sensations of touching, smelling, seeing and hearing the bush will be something to remember.

Horseback Safaris: Guests will be accompanied by both an armed and experienced ranger and a guide. The more adventurous and experienced riders can explore game trails and elephant paths, while the more cautious riders will be guided to the safer plains, which nonetheless offer panoramic views of the mountains and valleys. Various species of game can be approached and to watch animals in such close proximity is a unique experience.

Helicopter Flights: An experience beyond comparison! Combine an exhilarating helicopter flight with a romantic meal on a secluded mountain top and enjoy the indescribable natural beauty of the Waterberg. Whether it be a champagne breakfast, a simple picnic brunch or a full meal on the mountain it is the ultimate experience.

Astro-Boma Stargazing Observatory: Unlike city skies, where artificial light and pollution obscures visibility, the heavens above Entabeni Safari Conservancy are vividly clear, allowing for optimal viewing of the moon, planets, comets, stars and star constellations in our spectacular southern hemisphere. Entabeni Safari Conservancy possesses one of the largest telescopes in private ownership in Africa through which the celestial bodies of the southern hemisphere, Venus, Orion, Scorpio, the Milky Way and the Southern Cross take on a whole new meaning as they come alive in all their splendour.

Boat Cruise: This boat offers good viewing of birds, hippo’s and general game on Entabeni Lake.

Visit the Pedi Cultural Village, and listen to the local Marimba Band, take part in a local treasure hunt or try your hand at Drumming.

For easy access both the Upper and Lower Escarpments have their own entrance and care should be taken to ensure that you arrive at the correct Entrance Gate.
