Hhohho Region

Travel to Hhohho Region – Mbabane and the Ezulwini Valley

One of the most visited areas of Swaziland and packed with adventure holiday options, Hhohho covers the western part of Swaziland from the north and runs southwards to the centre of the Kingdom.

The region was named after the capital of King Mswati II, who expanded the Swazi territory to the north and west, taking in the districts of Barberton, Nelspruit, Carolina and Piet Retief. These areas were later acquired by the then Province of Transvaal and today they form part of the Mpumalanga Province of South Africa.

The capital of Swaziland, Mbabane, is located in Hhohho as well as the Kingdom’s main tourist area, the scenic Ezulwini Valley (Valley of Heaven), where excellent hotels and restaurants, together with craft outlets, many activities and other attractions can be found.

The Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary is the oldest nature reserve in Swaziland and is one of the Kingdom’s premier big game viewing reserves.
