Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park
Travel to Mosi-oa-Tunya N. Park – Zambezi Wildlife
Situated along the Upper Zambezi, Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park stretches for 12 km above Victoria Falls. With a small population of breeding white rhinos – the only rhinos to be seen in Zambia – the park is a popular destination for short safari game drives for travellers staying in Livingstone. Elephants freely cross the Zambezi and wander through the park and the surrounding area.
Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park is a tiny park of only 66 sq. km. Because the park is small it offers a relaxing drive alongside the river and around its circular game circuit. A variety of species can easily be seen.
Wildlife in the park includes several antelope species, zebra, giraffe, warthog, a variety of birds and smaller animals. Since there are no predators the game is very relaxed and affords some excellent photo opportunities.
Activities on offer include rhino tracking on foot and game drives. Pick a scenic spot on the bank of the Zambezi and enjoy a cooling sundowner.
Self-drive is possible in the park or travellers can join an organised open vehicle game drive. Elephant-back safaris were recently introduced.
