Lake Bosumtwi

Locals bathing at Lake Bosumtwi

Lake Bosumtwi, the largest natural lake in Ghana, is about 32 kilometres southeast of Kumasi and is 270 feet deep and 8 km wide.

The Ashanti people believe that the souls of their dead come to the lake to say goodbye to god called Twi. One theory says that a huge meteorite formed the lake. Another says that it is the crater of an extinct volcano.
