Travel to Yamoussoukro – Capital of Ivory Coast
Yamoussoukro is located in the region of Eastern Ivory Coast and it is the country’s capital city. It became the capital in March 1983. however, the country has formerly had numerous other capital cities including Grand-Bassam, Bingerville and Abidjan, and most economic activity in Ivory Coast still takes places in Abidjan.
In Yamoussoukro you will find the largest Christian place of worship in the world, the Basilica of Our Lady of Peace of Yamoussoukro. However, other attractions in the capital city include the old Presidential Palace, the public gardens, the Kossou Dam, the Town Hall, the Protestant Temple, the Mosque and the Palace of Hosts.
